Laurens De Bock should start for Leeds United against Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road in the Championship this weekend.
Laurens De Bock’s career at Leeds United has not exactly got off to a great start, and the West Yorkshire club’s fans are not happy with his performances.
The 25-year-old left-back did not play well against Reading last weekend, and Leeds fans were hugely critical of his performance in the Championship game (click here to read more).
Given that Tom Pearce was in the Whites’ squad for the match at the Madejski Stadium, many fans would expect – and perhaps want – the youngster to get a chance against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
However, Leeds head coach Paul Heckingbottom should keep faith in De Bock and include him in the starting lineup against Wednesday at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Dropping the former Belgium Under-21 international left-back after a disappointing performance would only affect his confidence, which must already be low.
For the 25-year-old to regain the kind of form he showed at Club Brugge, he needs to have the full confidence of his manager.
Wednesday are not in good form, and De Bock could well produce a very good performance in front of a strong Elland Road crowd against an Owls team who are just eight points above the relegation zone.
The Belgium may not have inspired fans in the 630 minutes of Championship football he has played for Leeds so far this season, he can only get better and get into a rhythm if he gets a run in the team.
