Frank Lampard spent much of the weekend convincing Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright to sanction a deadline day loan transfer for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who report Lampard worked tirelessly before signing his Toffees contract to begin putting plans in place to hit the ground running at Goodison Park.
Farhad Moshiri has appointed Lampard on a two-and-a-half-year contract as his sixth head coach since firing Roberto Martinez in 2016. The Blues owner fired the Spaniard who was appointed prior to his arrival just 74-days after buying an initial 49.9% stake, now at 94%.

Lampard identified potential transfer targets such as Van de Beek during his interview over becoming the next Everton manager. The former Chelsea and Derby County coach deemed the Manchester United midfielder a priority option to improve the Goodison engine room.
Everton were in desperate need for reinforcements in midfield before the Dutchman and Dele Alli’s last-gasp arrivals on Monday. Lampard will begin his tenure without Abdoulaye Doucoure (groin) and Fabian Delph (thigh) for three-weeks, or Tom Davies (hamstring).
Lampard convinced Kenwright to sanction Van de Beek to Everton loan transfer
Van de Beek is now keen on showing his Premier League potential at Everton, after failing to get many opportunities with Manchester United following his £40m transfer from Ajax.
But Lampard had to convince Kenwright to give the green light for Everton to sign Van de Beek on loan. The new Blues boss spent much of the weekend before signing his contract convincing Kenwright of the Dutchman’s skill and why he is the right fit at Goodison Park.

Kenwright was sceptical of Everton agreeing a transfer for Van de Beek given he found it so challenging at Manchester United. The 24-year-old has only featured in 27 Premier League games since moving to Old Trafford in September 2020. He also only started four of them.
The midfielder additionally offered just two goals and one assist over his top-flight outings for the Red Devils. While Ralf Rangnick and Michael Carrick together only played the 19-cap international for nine-minutes over 10 games following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking.
