The LA Clippers are having the worst season in years, as they find themselves near the bottom of the Western Conference.
On top of that, they earned significant criticism for the way they treated Chris Paul recently. But could they fix everything with a trade for an All-Star candidate this season?
LA Clippers could make a trade for Michael Porter Jr.
Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints put together potential trade packages for several struggling NBA teams to try and fix their rosters.
One name that he believes is a standout for the LA Clippers is Michael Porter Jr., who is putting up great numbers for the Nets, and can be an upgrade over John Collins.
“With the way Michael Porter Jr. has played this season, it wouldn’t be surprising for him to be a buy-low type of player on the trade market for the Clippers, especially given his championship experience with the Denver Nuggets.
“On the flip side, the Brooklyn Nets should hold no attachment to Porter and be willing to part ways with him for unwanted contracts if they can get a valuable first-round pick.
“Another reason why Porter would fit in with the Clippers’ plans is that he will be on an expiring $40.8 million contract next season,aligning him perfectly with Leonard and Harden, which allows the organization to have over $100 million in cap space for the 2027 offseason.
“Out of all the players the Clippers could potentially pursue utilizing the contracts of Collins and Bogdanovic, Porter certainly stands out in terms of his value and how well he has played this season.”
LA Clippers need to do everything to fix their season
At this point, Lawrence Frank and the LA Clippers must be open to any and all ideas about how to fix their current predicament.
The Clippers don’t own their 2026 first-round pick, as they traded it to the OKC Thunder along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as part of the Paul George trade.
They also have the oldest roster in NBA history, an idea many felt would backfire on them. And that has been the case since day one of the NBA season.
It’s hard to see a way out for the LA Clippers. But they must find it, as it could be the difference between peril and hope for the future of their franchise.
