Kyle Walker cautions young England players not to get complacent vs. Norway

Speaking to talkSPORT, Kyle Walker sent a message of encouragement to the young English players representing the team at the World Cup for the first time ever.

He warned them against being complacent and encouraged them to play their best and bravest football and show the world why they are some of the best players in the world.

“There’s no excuses now! We all need to enjoy the game of football. We’re all there for a reason, because we love the game of football. But keep your feet on the ground.

“You’re only as good as your last game, and we had a very good game, but that game is gone now. We’re facing a different opponent with a different skillset, and we need to just make sure that we go and attack this game like we did that one.

“Don’t have the handbrake on, don’t be silly, go in there and express yourself and show what good footballers you are.”

Kyle Walker has experienced massive success at FIFA World Cup with England

Walker isn’t just speaking from a position of unwarranted superiority. The former Manchester City defender represented England at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Walker was crucial to England’s success at the 2018 edition of the tournament, as he played a key role in the team’s run to the semi-final.

On top of that, he also played in other high-profile games, such as the 2020 and 2024 Euro finals, where he and England missed out on the championship.

Hopefully, this message of encouragement can help the youngsters find the courage and confidence ahead of the biggest game of their careers.
