Arsenal’s owners are set to hand Mikel Arteta a January transfer budget of £50m to fortify the Gunners’ squad in the transfer window as the potential prospect of a Premier League title bid continues to grow.

According to the Sun, Arsenal’s KSE (Kroenke Sports & Entertainment) owners will hand the 40-year-old manager as much as £50m to sign new players with in January, with central midfield, defence and backup to Bukayo Saka likely to be the main areas targeted by Arteta and technical director Edu Gaspar.

The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League after 11 games with Arsenal winning all but two games all season in all competition, with the north London recently drawing to Southampton at St. Mary’s in a fixture that many supporters agree was one of the worst of the campaign.

With UEFA Europa League football to contend with and a League Cup campaign starting in two weeks, Arsenal’s squad is being stretched to its absolute limits, yet Arteta being handed a £50m transfer budget in January could work wonders for the team.

Moreover, with Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe set to return from long-term injuries after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Arsenal’s squad could be completely rejuvenated in January should Arteta decide to use his new transfer budge to its maximum potential.

Indeed whilst Arsenal fans aren’t getting caught up in Premier League title talk just yet, there’s a growing sense of optimism that the north London side could do something special if they approach the January transfer window with the right intentions, and £50m could go a long way for Arteta and his exciting squad.

A UEFA Champions League finish remains Arsenal’s priority this season, and whilst talk of a title is flattering, the Gunners can fully solidify a top-four spot if they strengthen in January, with the north London side building something quite exciting under Arteta.

The January market might not be everyone’s favourite window, but for a club like Arsenal, the Gunners can make a real statement by investing in key areas that could take the Premier League giants from potential contender to outright fighting City to the end for the title.
