Tottenham Hotspur won’t be signing Erling Haaland any time soon, but Kristian Thorstvedt – his replacement last night – is dreaming of a move to North London.

Thorstvedt is the son of former Tottenham goalkeeper Erik Thorstvedt. As a result, he grew up loving Tottenham.

The Genk star has indicated that his dream is to sign for Tottenham. Whether Tottenham are keen remains to be seen, but the Norwegian would jump at the move.

The modern game is all about pace and fans love to see skill, but Thorstvedt isn’t about that. He’s more about anticipation, positioning, timing his runs into the box.

That has ultimately resulted in Thorstvedt being likened to Thomas Muller, and Tottenham would surely love to have a player like Muller.

On Tuesday, Thorstvedt showed that he isn’t just a forward-thinking midfielder.

With Erling Haaland out injured, Norway were left with something of a striking crisis against Montenegro. They don’t have Haalands growing on trees after all.

Stale Solbakken decided to go with Thorstvedt as a striker, trusting him to make the transition to a more advanced role.

Replacing Haaland isn’t easy for anybody, but Thorstvedt put in a strong shift.

Norway won the game 2-0. Thorstvedt didn’t get on the scoresheet, but Aftenposten praised his effort and endeavour in attack.

Signing a pure striker is hard for Tottenham, as they know they won’t get into the side over Harry Kane.

In Thorstvedt, there is a player who can play as a number 10 or even up front – and that should appeal to Fabio Paratici and Tottenham’s scouts.
