Tottenham Hotspur may need to find another midfielder in January – and Genk midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt has indicated his interest in a move.

Tanguy Ndombele’s future remains unclear given that he isn’t exactly in Nuno Espirito Santo’s Tottenham plans right now.

Pape Sarr only joins up with Tottenham next summer, and with Tottenham needing more attacking impact from midfield, Fabio Paratici may need to find a signing.

Thorstvedt compared to Lampard

Last week, Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen covered Thorstvedt’s progress. They even added that Tottenham are Thorstvedt’s favourite club.

That’s because Thorstvedt’s father Erik played for Tottenham. Between 1988 and 1996, Thortvedt played for Tottenham having joined from IFK Goteborg.

Thorstvedt senior became a favourite at Tottenham, racking up almost 200 league appearances for the club before retiring.

Kristian was only born three years after Erik’s time at Tottenham ended, but Spurs love seems run through the blood of the Thorstvedt family now.

The report even added that Thorstvedt is just like Frank Lampard.

When you see that the 22-year-old bagged nine goals from midfield last season and breaks into the box, you start to see why.

Thortvedt was also a regular goalscorer at Viking Stavanger, averaging better than one in three.

The Lampard comparison is lofty, but they are athletically similar and love to score goals. Maybe Tottenham can find a real gem by bringing the Norwegian to North London.w

Thorstvedt admits he loves Tottenham

Now, Thorstvedt has told Dagsavisen that a move to Tottenham has ‘always’ been in his dreams.

Thorstvedt added that his favourite team is Tottenham, but knows he may be short of that level right now.

“That has always been in my dreams, but a lot must happen for it to become a reality. I try not to think much about it.”

“It has always been Spurs for me. I am happy in Belgium. I have lots of games to look forward to in the league, the domestic cup and in the Europa League,” he added.

If Paratici wants a goalscoring midfielder in January, he has been given a major sign that Thorstvedt is keen to join.
