Harry Redknapp has been speaking about the managerial situation at Tottenham, where he made an interesting comment about Mauricio Pochettino.
What’s the story?
Well, the 76-year-old believes Spurs will stick with Antonio Conte until the end of the season, but if anybody is to replace him before the campaign ends, it would be the 51-year-old Pochettino.
Redknapp told Sky Sports: “Knowing Daniel (Levy) and Joe Lewis, they’ll be looking at how do we get in the top four, that is the key now. Will Conte get us there, or will we have to make a change now?
“I think they’ll probably stay with Conte, I’ve got a feeling. The man’s a great manager. The only option (to come in now) would be Pochettino. Other than that, it’s very difficult. (Thomas) Tuchel has gone to Bayern Munich, so that’s the choice for me.”
Redknapp’s comments come after the Telegraph claimed that Conte is set to leave Tottenham this week following his remarkable outburst last Saturday, in which he called his own players “selfish” after the 3-3 draw against Southampton.
It is said that Ryan Mason will take charge on an interim basis until a long-term replacement is found.
However, it remains to be seen if Conte does leave Spurs now, or if he will see out the remainder of his contract until July.
Tottenham fans may disagree with Harry Redknapp
We can understand why Redknapp thinks Conte could get Spurs into the top four, due to his excellent track record.
However, the Italian seems to have burned his bridges in N17 and may no longer be able to motivate his squad.

The Daily Mail believe Conte’s presence at Tottenham is affecting morale in the dressing room, with Levy said to be aware of the issues.
Recent results against sides Levy would expect Conte to beat also haven’t been great, with Spurs suffering a 1-0 defeat to relegation candidates Wolves, before throwing away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 against Southampton, who sit 20th.
Therefore, keeping the 53-year-old in north London doesn’t guarantee a place in the top four by any means.
