The summer had already been going great for Hart, who helped the Knicks end their 53-year championship drought after lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy against the San Antonio Spurs.
As for the World Cup, Hart had picked Argentina as his favorite and went as far as comparing them to the Knicks.

This included Argentina’s phenomenal 2-1 comeback win against England during the semifinals. The win led to Hart comparing Argentina to the Knicks, subtly declaring them as the favorites to win the World Cup.
However, Argentina were utterly destroyed by Spain in the finals as Messi and co.’s journey came to an embarrassing end. The defeat even led to Hart going back on his previous Knicks-Argentina comparison.
Considering how badly Argentina played in the finals, it’s no surprise that Hart doesn’t want to show himself as a fan of the team. The scoreline was only 1-0, but Argentina were properly schooled by the Spaniards.
