New York Knicks fans priced out of Madison Square Garden now have another way into the city’s biggest basketball night.
Game 3 has become too big for one building. The Knicks are home in the NBA Finals, tickets are out of reach, and the city is trying to keep the shared moment alive.
That meant finding a new public stage after the planned MSG gathering was shut down.
Knicks watch party moves into Bryant Park
The New York Post reported that Bryant Park has been added as a free Knicks watch party location for Game 3, with advance registration required and capacity capped at 5,000.
“These watch parties have become a celebration of New York City itself,” said Mayor Zohran Mamdani, “From every borough and every neighborhood, this city has come together to cheer on the Knicks and share in a moment that belongs to all of us. That’s why we’re adding Bryant Park as an additional watch party location, so even more fans can be part of this incredible Knicks Finals run.”
Central Park and Brooklyn Bowl are also hosting watch parties, giving fans more places to gather while the Knicks chase their first championship since 1973.
Knicks watch party demand shows the ticket squeeze
The need for public viewing space is obvious because Game 3 prices remain brutal. TickPick showed the lowest get-in price at $4,741, with an average price around $8,446, and the most expensive seat above $158,000.

Other resale snapshots have put upper-deck seats in the $7,000 to $10,000 range, which explains why public sites now matter so much.
For many fans, they are the only realistic way to feel part of a Finals run that has taken over the city.
Trump security changed the Knicks watch party map
The MSG event was not moved for convenience. The NYPD and Secret Service canceled the planned outdoor watch party because Donald Trump is expected at Game 3, bringing hard street closures, bag restrictions, and longer security checks.
The decision also followed trouble during earlier gatherings. Eight people were taken into custody around Game 1, and 26 were arrested or issued summonses after Game 2, when one NYPD officer was hurt.
That left the city balancing two truths. The Knicks have created a rare civic celebration, but Game 3 needs more space, more control, and a safer way for fans to join it.
