Stevie Nicol wants Liverpool to sign Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Sofyan Amrabat who is ‘head and shoulders above’ Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner, as he told ESPN.

The Anfield legend isn’t too impressed by what Jurgen Klopp has available to him in the middle of the park ahead of the January transfer window opening.

Before the start of the World Cup, many were pointing towards the transfer window and how that was going to be used to fix Liverpool’s problems from this season.

Well, after Morocco’s historic ride to the semi-finals of the World Cup, one man that has stood out is their battling midfielder from Fiorentina.

The 27-year-old’s performances have impressed so much that the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham have expressed interest in signing the £44 million player.

Nicol was in no doubt that those at Anfield should sign the hard-hitting midfielder because he is an upgrade on what Klopp already picks or has at his disposal.

“You look at Liverpool and what they have available in the middle of the park,” said Nicol. “He is kind of head and shoulders above what they have got.

“We are looking at Naby Keita, who is never going to do it at Liverpool now. What else have we got? We have the OX. James Milner. I mean, come on!”

SHOULD AMRABAT SIGN FOR LIVERPOOL OR TOTTENHAM?

Both are in the knockout stages of the Champions League, so from that perspective, they can offer him the big games straightaway.

Amrabat would also earn healthy minutes under both Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte, although, because there are more issues on Merseyside and they play with three in the middle, then he’ll get a few extra starts at Liverpool.

Either way, it has been Liverpool that have secured the trophies in recent years and if Amrabat wants success, in that regard, then he has to head to Merseyside over north London, without any hesitation.
