Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claimed at his latest press conference, which was broadcast on the club’s official website, that Curtis Jones has the physical fitness to go and run a marathon, but he is not able to play football matches right now.
What’s the latest?
Jones has been out injured for weeks now, after damaging his eye in training.
Initially the problem was only thought to be a minor one, but Jones has now been sidelined for some time.
That has been a blow for Klopp and Liverpool, who have seen their options in midfield reduced.
But Jones has at least retained a high level of physical fitness of late.
Klopp said: “With Curtis it is in our hands. Curtis is completely fine. Curtis is doing what he’s allowed to do.
“If you asked Curtis, he could go and run a marathon but it’s just not allowed at the moment so we have to wait until the doctor’s give us the green light. “

Difficult comeback?
Klopp’s words suggest that Jones won’t have any issues with coping physically when he does return.
Breaking back into Liverpool’s team could be difficult for the youngster, though.
Thiago Alcantara is currently in the best form he has been in since moving to Liverpool almost 18 months ago.
The Spaniard has scored twice in his last two games, and his passing range has continued to dazzle observers.
Thiago now looks certain to start for the Reds against Everton tomorrow evening, and there are no obvious spaces available in Liverpool’s midfield for Jones right now.
