Jurgen Klopp has revealed Curtis Jones won’t be available for Liverpool’s visit of Arsenal on Saturday.
The Reds take on Mikel Arteta’s side in a big clash at Anfield tomorrow evening.
The Liverpool boss already has injury problems with regards to midfielders, but none more serious than Jones’s predicament.
He sat out games against Atletico Madrid and West Ham United in recent weeks due to a collision on the training ground.
And speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Klopp has intimated that the 20-year-old suffered partial vision loss but claimed it has now been restored.
He said: “I thought I saw all injuries as a manager, but that was really a freak one. He was very lucky – very lucky – in the end because we all know with the eye there’s no jokes about that, let me say it like this.
“He is good, he is just not allowed to do a lot of things in the moment, we have to wait until the doctors give us a green light. Curtis is completely fine, he has his eyesight back, all these kinds of things, but the eye is still recovering.”
Mixed news
It’s obviously brilliant news that the young Liverpool academy gem has not suffered any permanent damage to his eyesight.
But it’s another blow for Klopp that he’s unavailable to face the Gunners.
With Naby Keita and Harvey Elliott also absent, Jordan Henderson touch-and-go, and Thiago Alcantara not match fit following a spell on the sidelines, Klopp’s midfield is currently decimated.
Liverpool go into the game on the back of a defeat at West Ham United.
They’ll be like a wounded animal against the North Londoners – who haven’t lost since August – but with their casualty list, it could be a big chance for Arsenal.
