Liverpool‘s team news ahead of tonight’s visit to Manchester United is looking a lot more optimistic, it has to be said.

The Reds go to Old Trafford on the back of a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Anfield last Monday, a result that saw Jurgen Klopp’s side drop two more points following their 2-2 at Fulham on the opening weekend of the campaign.

A number of Liverpool players missed the first XI for the visit of the Eagles through injury but at least two of them could well return to face Erik ten Hag’s troops this evening.

Liverpool’s team news

According to The Echo, as covered by HITC Sport, captain Jordan Henderson resumed full training on Saturday in what could potentially be a massive boost for Klopp, given his experience and influence in a midfield decimated by injury.

Beside him, Naby Keita is likely to start despite speculation regarding his future, having only been on the bench last week after a bout of illness.

In defence, Nat Phillips, labelled ‘absolutely insane‘ by Klopp after a victory at Manchester United in 2021, could well drop out of the starting lineup in favour of Joe Gomez, who may partner Virgil van Dijk with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson either side of them.

Last week, Goal reported that Roberto Firmino is also likely to be available after missing the Palace draw through injury.

And that could be Liverpool’s biggest boost, considering Diogo Jota is still sidelined and Darwin Nunez is suspended following his red card on Monday.

Here’s how Klopp could line up against Manchester United –

Potential Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Keita; Diaz, Firmino, Salah
