Real Madrid star Rodrygo has hailed Sporting Lisbon star Arthur Gomes as ‘King’ on his Instagram story, after he downed Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Antonio Conte’s side saw their unbeaten run in all competition ended by a resilient Lisbon side that scored two late goals yesterday, including a brilliant solo effort from Arthur.
Well, Arthur had a watching admirer from afar, as Rodrygo posted on his IG story, ‘I love you King. What a goal’.

From Tottenham’s perspective, it’s the first goal that they will be most annoyed with because that opened the door for the second to come through.
A set-piece situation, which is normally dealt with by Conte’s hard-hitting backline, allowed Paulinho to score and end Spurs’ unbeaten run.
Both teams created enough chances to score, but the duo were also sloppy, as that ruthless nature only came via the feet of those in green and white.

STILL A STRONG START
This is just a minor blip from Tottenham and only one defeat so far this season is pretty good going from the trophy-chasing side.
Someone like Eric Dier, who was returning to Sporting yesterday and part of Conte’s backline, would be disappointed at the manner of goals they conceded, but overall, he has been outstanding since the Italian walked through the doors.
And with Gareth Southgate set to name his England squad – for the final international break before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar – on Thursday, then Dier has to return to the fold.
The versatile defender hasn’t played since before Euro 2020, and rightfully so because his form dropped, but that’s now changed and he deserves his spot back, especially given that England aren’t exactly stacked in that department.
