Formula 1 driver Kimi Antonelli crashed a $245,000 super-rare Mercedes in a road accident near his home in San Marino.

The 19-year-old Mercedes star was involved in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend. His team later confirmed that he was not injured.

Although Antonelli walked away safely, the high-performance vehicle sustained damage.

Antonelli crashes into guardrail near home

Reports state that Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli collided with a guardrail while driving close to his residence in San Marino. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The team confirmed that Antonelli personally contacted police after the crash. He was described as “completely unharmed.”

The car involved was a Mercedes AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Motorsport Collectors Edition. The model is regarded as one of the most exclusive road cars produced by the manufacturer.

Limited edition Mercedes valued at $245,000

Only 200 examples of the Motorsport Collectors Edition were produced. The vehicle is valued at approximately $245,000.

It features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine capable of generating 612 horsepower. The full extent of the damage has not been disclosed.

Antonelli remains scheduled to take part in preseason testing in Bahrain. He is preparing for his second season with Mercedes after competing in 24 races last year.

While the accident impacted a rare vehicle, the primary relief for Mercedes is that their young driver escaped without injury.
