Kieran Trippier has told Rio Ferdinand on ‘Vibe With Five’ that the toughest player he faces in training at Newcastle United is undoubtedly Joelinton.
The England international, who was praised by the retired defender made plenty of headlines during the chat, calling Declan Rice better than Casemiro and picking Mousa Dembele as the best player he has ever played with.
Now, Kieran Trippier has explained to Rio Ferdinand why the ‘standout’ Joelinton is the toughest player he has faced in training at Newcastle.
Kieran Trippier tells Rio Ferdinand that Joelinton is the hardest player he has faced in Newcastle training
Kieran Trippier told Rio Ferdinand on his official YouTube channel, “The one player is Joelinton. Honestly, I’ve played with a lot of South Americans over the years and he’s proper 100 percent in training everyday.”

“Unbelievable player, absolute machine. The turnaround in his career, from what I’ve heard before the takeover until now is remarkable. But what a player he is. He’s got an unbelievable future ahead of him.”
The Joelinton redemption arc is one for the history books
There was a time when the £80,000-a-week man was a laughing stock, as he failed to deliver the goods as the club’s marquee signing as a striker. However, Eddie Howe turned the Brazilian’s fortunes around by converting him into a box-to-box midfielder and as they say, the rest is history.
Ultimately, it goes to show the leaps and bounds Joelinton has taken that a player of the standing of Kieran Tripper at Newcastle told Rio Ferdinand that no player in training wows him as much as him.
The ex-Hoffenheim forward is the perfect example of the fact that quite often, it is not necessarily a lack of quality but an improper role that holds a number of players back.
