- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC understands that Kieran Trippier has asked to leave Newcastle United this month, just days before the window slams shut.
Back in June, HITC reported that Newcastle United would sell Kieran Trippier if he asked to leave the club this summer.
HITC reported that Bayern Munich, who have already taken the right-back’s former Tottenham Hotspur team-mates Harry Kane and Eric Dier to Bavaria, remained keen on Newcastle’s number two.
However, with just days remaining in the transfer market, it looked as if Trippier would remain at St James’ Park but the Englishman has rocked those at Newcastle United as he has asked to leave the club.

Kieran Trippier asks to leave Newcastle
Sources have told HITC that Trippier has indeed asked to leave St James’ Park this summer, but with just days remaining in the summer transfer window – the Geordies may find it difficult to sell the experienced right-back.
Newcastle have been willing to move him this summer but as yet nothing has materialised despite talks with the likes of the Saudi Pro League and Bayern Munich earlier in the window.
As mentioned, Bayern did try and sign Trippier back in January but a deal for the English right-back failed to materialise.
The one-time Burnley and Atletico Madrid defender was keen on leaving the North East for Bavaria at the time, though discussions broke down after Bayern proved unable to meet Newcastle’s £20 million asking price, stumping up just £13 million.
It is unclear if Bayern remains interested in Trippier under new manager Vincent Kompany but there are certainly clubs interested in the former Tottenham defender if the Bundesliga don’t enter the race.
Everton among sides interested in Trippier
Sources have told HITC that there is interest emanating from the Premier League with Sean Dyche’s Everton understood to be keen.
Everton kicked off the season in dismal fashion with a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park with Ashley Young being sent off for the Toffees.
A move to Everton for Trippier would certainly make sense for the Merseyside club. Sources have told HITC that, at this stage, Everton would prefer a loan for the 33-year-old defender but Newcastle would rather a permanent sale this summer.
Sean Dyche was asked about the possibility of signing Trippier in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s games, he said: “He’s one of many names that have come up here. As if by magic when we haven’t got a right-back!”
Last season for Newcastle, Trippier made 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing 11 assists for his teammates.
