Arsenal Women made history at the Emirates Stadium with a dramatic Champions Cup triumph.

The final went to extra time as the Gunners edged Corinthians 3–2 in front of a crowd of 25,301.

It was the first edition of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, which added extra significance to the occasion.

The scale of the achievement quickly drew praise from beyond football, including from Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer.

Following the final whistle, Starmer shared a message celebrating Arsenal Women’s achievement.

“Huge congratulations to Arsenal Women, winners of the Champions Cup!” Starmer said, highlighting both the sporting success and the wider impact of the victory.

“What a win, history makers on the pitch and an inspiration to young girls across our country.”

Winning the inaugural Champions Cup placed Arsenal Women firmly in the history books, while the setting at the Emirates underlined the growing profile of the women’s game.

Starmer’s reaction reinforced the idea that moments like this now carry cultural as well as sporting significance.

Lotte Wubben-Moy and Kim Little reflect on making Arsenal history

On the pitch, the players were keenly aware of what the victory represented for them.

Goalscorer Lotte Wubben-Moy spoke about the challenge of adding a new chapter to Arsenal’s already rich history.

“It’s not often that you can write history at Arsenal because history has been written so many times,” Wubben-Moy told Sky Sports.

“We stand on the shoulders of giants. To come to this inaugural competition and win it and do it with all of our fans here in style – our fans are wonderful, and that’s who we do it for.”

Captain Kim Little shared a similar view, underlining the significance of the moment.

“It’s obviously a unique experience – it being the first Champions Cup,” Little said. “We’ll take a lot from winning today and getting a trophy.”

For Arsenal Women, the victory was about more than one night. It was a statement moment, combining history, silverware, and support, with recognition coming from the very top.
