Kalvin Phillips has wished Charlie Cresswell ‘good luck’ on Instagram after he secured a loan deal from Leeds United to Millwall on Monday.
Whilst all the limelight was on a certain boyhood fan and club legend heading for the exit door and signing for the Premier League champions, other deals were also being included by the club.
Young midfielder, Darko Gyabi, headed towards Elland Road on a permanent deal from Manchester City, whilst Cresswell is set to earn experience under the stewardship of Gary Rowett at the Den.
When Cresswell posted the following simple message about his move, Phillips posted in the comments section ‘Good luck, big man’, whilst Jamie Shackleton urged the defender to ‘go smash it’.
LEEDS BULKING UP SQUAD WITH PROVEN EXPERIENCE
Given the lack of depth Leeds have had to deal with over the years, they have had to rely upon players like Cresswell when injuries and suspensions have hit.
But not anymore because, whilst Jesse Marsch will still use his young stars, he is doing everything in his power to add depth to his squad this summer.
Four new players have arrived and it’s only a matter of time before that number rises, with RB Leipzig’s, Tyler Adams, the next man on the block.
The exit of Phillips is going to hurt, as well as Raphinha, but the club aren’t dwelling on it too much and just getting the job done in the transfer market.
The pressure will be on them from the start because many will be thinking they will face another relegation battle, and in truth, they don’t want any more final-day drama.
