The Gabonese midfielder had been linked with Tottenham and West Ham, but Napoli are reportedly in talks for his services.

Serie A giants Napoli have reportedly opened talks with Southampton over the availability of midfielder Mario Lemina, according to reports from Get French Football News.

The Gabon international moved to the Saints last summer, but he’d been promised a different project entirely to what he encountered, finding himself scrapping it out in a hard-fought relegation battle until the last few weeks of the season.

Now, it seems the 24-year-old is looking to move on to a club with loftier ambitions, with both Tottenham and West Ham United having been linked as potential suitors this summer, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Mauricio Pochettino is said to be looking for a long-term replacement to Mousa Dembele, while Manuel Pellegrini is looking for marquee midfielders to usher in an attacking philosophy at the London Stadium.

But both will now be concerned that talks for the midfielder’s signature are underway in Naples, as the London outfits have yet to act on initial interest.

The prospect of joining Napoli at the moment will be an extremely exciting one for the former Juventus man, with the club clearly on the rise and playing one of the finest brands of football in Europe. So Premier League suitors will need to act quick if they dont want to miss out.
