Tottenham Hotspur may have been given hope in Ademola Lookman chase as Everton reportedly make the winger available for transfer.

Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur have been given a boost in their quest to sign Ademola Lookman with Everton ready to sell the winger, according to the Mirror.

Newly appointed director of football Marcel Brands has been tasked with reducing the 38-man Toffees squad to a more manageable 25 to 30 players and as a result 12 currently on the books are set to be axed.

Among those is Lookman, who as the Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 13:16, Tuesday, June 5, 2018) reported has attracted interest from both the Saints and Tottenham.

The 20-year-old spend the latter half of the 2017/18 season on loan at RB Leipzig, impressing with five goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances, and the German side are also interested in signing the England Under-21 international on a permanent basis.

Lookman arrived at Goodison Park from Charlton Athletic in January 2017 in a deal worth £11m (BBC) but has since struggled to assert himself under managers Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce.

With Marco Silva having now been appointed as the forward’s third boss at the club there were thoughts that he could be given another chance, but Brands clearly sees the Englishman’s time on Merseyside as being up.
