Juventus could reportedly move for rumoured West Ham target Davide Frattesi if they fail to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with the Serbian also on Tottenham’s radar according to recent reports.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Juventus are set for a big January transfer window, with midfield the main position the Serie A giants want to strengthen following a disastrous campaign that has seen Massimiliano Allegri’s side crash out of the UEFA Champions League and fall behind hugely in the Scudetto race.

As per the report, Milinkovic-Savic is Juventus’ main target in January, however, Frattesi is already being lined up as an alternative if the Bianconeri fail to land to Lazio superstar, who according to club president Claudio Lotito wants €120m (£107m) for the 28-year-old.

With Tottenham interested in Milinkovic-Savic as reported by Sky Sports via Sempre Milan, Juventus already face some top competition for the Serbian, and the Serie A side could also struggle to sign Frattesi with West Ham keen on the Sassuolo talent as per FC Inter News.

Indeed, this midfield merry-go-round could go on to define parts of the January transfer window, with midfield clearly a position Juventus, Tottenham and West Ham all want to improve on. Yet for one club, they will likely have to miss out on either Frattesi or Milinkovic-Savic.

Given Juventus’ desperation to return to the top of the Italian footballing pyramid, there’s a good chance that the Turin giants can stretch their already limited finances to pull off one mega signing this January which could mean Tottenham or West Ham missing out.

There’s no denying that Frattesi is quite an exciting talent, with the midfielder already an Italian international and drawing some major interest from the Premier League. However, for Juventus, signing Milinkovic-Savic feels like the better move despite the greater financial burden.

After all, Milinkovic-Savic is one of the most complete midfielders in all of Europe, and whilst Frattesi is another Italian who could do a job at Juventus, the Tottenham target has the potential to completely transform the Old Lady’s fortunes in 2023.
