Arsenal are still looking to get a deal for Mikel Merino over the line but may actually have one eye on a potential goalkeeping addition.
The Gunners are heading towards another Premier League campaign with Mikel Arteta chasing the title.
Arsenal have signed David Raya permanently after a superb loan spell from Brentford whilst Riccardo Calafiori has arrived from Bologna.
Arsenal still have deals to complete though with midfielder Mikel Merino now a top target for the Gunners.
Real Sociedad have already signed Luka Sucic to replace Merino ahead of his expected move to North London.
Merino will provide a major boost in midfield for Arsenal and Arteta could turn the attention elsewhere once that deal is done.

Wojciech Szczesny latest
A goalkeeper may end up becoming a priority for Arsenal before the transfer deadline.
Raya is staying put but doubts surround the future of Aaron Ramsdale, who has been told to leave by David Seaman.
Ramsdale may fancy moving on to play first-team football elsewhere after a season stuck on the bench at the Emirates Stadium.
HITC understands that Arsenal have goalkeeping targets in mind in case Ramsdale does go.
Juventus stopper Wojciech Szczesny – a former Arsenal man himself – could end up returning to North London.
The Pole is now 34 and may be willing to take on a supporting role alongside Raya at this stage in his career.
Whether it’s Arsenal or elsewhere, Szczesny may well need to find himself a new club very soon.
Juventus boss Thiago Motta has already indicated that winger Federico Chiesa can leave, but it seems that a number of players are in the same boat.
Fabrizio Romano notes that a host of players who weren’t selected against Brest this weekend can go.
Szczesny is one of them, alongside the likes of Weston McKennie, Arthur Melo and Filip Kostic and Daniele Rugani.
‘All out of Juventus project’ stated Romano, highlighting that Motta will allow them to leave.
Arsenal goalkeeping ranks
Szczesny has never hidden his love for Arsenal and a return may well appeal – even if it’s only as backup to Raya.
Arsenal’s goalkeeping ranks have been going through changes of late and could yet be altered again with Ramsdale potentially going.
Arthur Okonkwo has left the club for Wrexham but Karl Hein has decided to stay put.
Tommy Setford has signed from Ajax whilst Lucas Nygaard has been snapped up from FC Nordsjælland.
Arsenal have brought in two young stoppers this summer and may feel that a veteran goalkeeper like Szczesny can be the perfect role model.
Juventus are clearly open to a deal but Arsenal would certainly need Ramsdale to move on before any deal for Szczesny – and that doesn’t appear to be absolutely imminent.
