Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said on Sky Sports Premier League (10:50pm, December 31, 2022) that Darwin Nunez was “brilliant” against Leicester City at Anfield in the Premier League on Friday evening.
Klopp was hugely impressed by how Nunez played in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Leicester last night.
The 23-year-old Uruguay international striker did not score, but he was a nuisance for the Leicester defenders during his time on the pitch.
Nunez created a wonderful chance for Liverpool teammate and Egypt international forward Mohamed Salah in the 24th minute.
The striker was involved in Liverpool’s second goal in the 45th minute.
Nunez’s effort came back off the frame of the Leicester goal, and Wout Faes turned it in for an own goal.
The Uruguay international, who played at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, himself had two very good chances and created another opportunity for Salah in the latter stages of the match.
Nunez may not have scored, but his pace on a few occasions was frightening, and his energy and willingness to work hard was evident.
And Klopp was impressed.
