Junior Firpo has posted on his Instagram story that Victor Orta is ‘one of the best’ individuals he has met in football after he was sacked by Leeds United.

Following Leeds United’s 4-1 defeat to relegation rivals Bournemouth at the weekend, it saw the frustration and anger levels amongst the Yorkshire faithful hit new heights.

It hasn’t been announced yet, but there is now talk that Javi Gracia is set to leave his job and Sam Allardyce will come in as his replacement.

But one rumour that has now been confirmed has been the exit of the club’s director of football, Victor Orta – Leeds issued a club statement on Tuesday morning.

Junior Firpo, who was one of the signings under his watch after joining from Barcelona for £13 million in 2021 (Sky Sports), reacted to that breaking news on his IG story with the following message, accompanied by a picture of Orta and the duo’s families.

“Probably one of the best people that I met in (the) world of football,” said Firpo. “Gracias.”

VICTOR ORTA’S ONE APPOINTMENT

Marcelo Bielsa was brought to Leeds United under the watch of Orta and it’s probably the only good thing he and those in the boardroom have done.

Other than that, there have been a lot of question marks, with some suggesting that when Bielsa was at the club, he was papering over the cracks at the top.

Well, since his exit, that has proven to be the case because, despite spending a few million, they have managed to go backwards and are now heading towards the Championship unless Allardyce can pull off a miracle – here is how the Whites could look under the Englishman, with Illan Meslier dropped.
