Juan Carlos Ferrero has distanced himself from Carlos Alcaraz following their split last month.
Alcaraz announced his shock split from Ferrero just a month before the Australian Open, after they had worked together since he was 16 years old.
Both parties have since been questioned on the split, with Ferrero previously suggesting he was open to a reunion with Alcaraz.
However, Ferrero’s latest action implies that a reunion with Alcaraz is off the cards after his Australian Open win.

Juan Carlos Ferrero unfollows Carlos Alcaraz and two members of his team
In his first tournament since splitting from Ferrero, Alcaraz won the Australian Open, which made him the youngest man ever to complete the Career Slam.
This is the first title that Alcaraz has won without Ferrero by his side, instead having another Spaniard in Samuel Lopez as his main coach.
While Alcaraz is a very popular Grand Slam winner and has received many messages of support following his historic achievement, it appears that not everyone is pleased about it.
Just days after winning his seventh major title, Alcaraz’s former coach Ferrero has been spotted to have unfollowed him on Instagram.
Ferrero has also unfollowed Alcaraz’s physio and fitness coaches, but he continues to follow his current coach Lopez.
Tennis fans think they know why Juan Carlos Ferrero unfollowed Carlos Alcaraz
It is currently unknown as to what the true reason behind Ferrero’s decision to cut ties with his former player on Instagram, but tennis fans appear to have a theory.
Rafael Nadal’s former coach and uncle Toni Nadal has been critical of Alcaraz since he won the Australian Open, particularly for not mentioning him in his post-match speech.
“It bothered me, you cannot forget Juan Carlos’ work all those years,” Toni Nadal told Radio Estadio. “I would not have liked it if, when I left Rafa, he had acted like this with [Carlos] Moya.”
After Ferrero unfollowed Alcaraz on social media, one tennis fan questioned whether this was the reason that he did this.
They wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Is he upset that Alcaraz didn’t mention him in his AO speech, or is it simply too painful to watch?”
However, most tennis fans appeared to think that it was the latter, with Ferrero not ready to see Alcaraz’s success without him just yet.
One person said, “My thought was that it’s possibly just too painful for Juan Carlos to watch. You know, you can still be really happy for someone, but it just hurts too much to see it happening without you as part of it anymore. Just my opinion and of course I could be wrong for sure!”
Another added, “Probably just too painful to watch, is my guess.”
For the time being, Ferrero has actually ventured into golf and there does not appear to be any signs of a reunion with Alcaraz.
Alcaraz is set to continue with Lopez as his main coach, with his next scheduled tournament at the Qatar Open.
