The Telegraph journalist, Mike McGrath has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are set to allow Lucas Moura to leave the club at the end of the season.

While the contract signed by Moura was until 2024, there was an option that gave Tottenham the power to decide whether it should be triggered.

If not, the Brazilian international would end up leaving Antonio Conte’s side for free, which seems to be the case, as per the reputable journalist.

Just recently, Conte told Football.London that it felt as if Lucas Moura was barely a Tottenham player, due to his constant unavailability.

This season as well, a calf injury has kept Moura out of the Spurs squad for plenty of games.

As a result, it seems as if Tottenham Hotspur have decided to pull the plug on the £90,000-a-week winger as stated by the Telegraph journalist, Mike McGrath.

Recently, it was also claimed by the Daily Mail that Moura, described as ‘wonderful’ by Antonio Conte had also decided to see out his current deal, before leaving for new pastures.

And now, it seems as if the love affair between the player and the club is on the verge of an end after 5 years.

The Telegraph journalist, Mike McGrath has mentioned in a new report that Tottenham Hotspur have made the decision to let Lucas Moura bid farewell to the club at the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Further details suggest that while the 30-year-old had penned a contract extension, the onus was on Conte and Co. to decide whether they aimed to trigger it for an additional year.

The deadline was December 31st, as reported by the renowned journalist, but it seems Tottenham are open to Moura leaving the club.

As a result, the rapid wideman is set to leave on a free transfer.

Ultimately, Lucas Moura is certain to be remembered as a Tottenham hero after the update provided by the journalist, as his late winner in their comeback win against Ajax in the 2018/2019 Champions League semi-final remains iconic.
