Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has been discussing Moussa Diaby’s future amid interest from Newcastle United.
The French winger has long been touted as one of the Magpies’ top targets this summer, but, as of yet, a move hasn’t materialised.
According to Jones, Diaby won’t be going anywhere this summer.
Indeed, the journalist states that Bayer Leverkusen are desperate to keep this group of players together for another season, and he claims that the players are all buying into this idea.
What’s been said?
Jones shared what he knows about Diaby and Leverkusen’s plans.
“Moussa Diaby was a name that cropped up, but Bayer Leverkusen just don’t want to lose him. Newcastle have been knocking on this door for two months now and it wasn’t a case of money at this point, Leverkusen are so desperate to keep this group together for this season and pretty much the entire team is up for it and they’re going to give it a crack together. I think Diaby is almost ungettable,” Jones said.

Chance to challenge
Bayer Leverkusen want to keep this group together, and it’s not hard to understand why.
Much like the Monaco and Lille teams that were built to challenge PSG in France in recent years, Leverkusen are on the brink of being able to overthrow Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Just look at the wealth of talent that Leverkusen have on offer. Florian Wirtz is one of the best young players in Europe, Moussa Diaby was one of the best wingers in Germany last year, while Patrick Schick outscored Erling Haaland.
Factor in that Edmond Tapsoba and Jonathan Tah have formed a formidable partnership at the back and you have a team ready to make a real title charge.
This is a team that will be picked apart in years to come, but one more year together will surely be quite appetising for a lot of these players.
