Journalist shares whether Mauricio Pochettino is likelier to join Tottenham or Chelsea

Graeme Bailey has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is more likely to join Tottenham Hotspur than Chelsea at present.

The journalist was speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast about the Argentine manager’s potential next destination.

Spurs have been looking for a new permanent manager in wake of Antonio Conte’s departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Likewise, the Blues are in pursuit of a new permanent appointment in the Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard is in charge only until the end of the season. Cristian Stellini is in a similar role at Spurs.

Speculation linking Pochettino with either Tottenham or Chelsea appears to have cooled down as of late.

Back in February, Bailey claimed on 90Min that Pochettino had snubbed a Blues approach to replace Graham Potter.

Meanwhile, the Evening Standard has claimed that Spurs aren’t really considering the 51-year-old at the moment.

However, Alasdair Gold has suggested that Pochettino will eventually come into consideration at Tottenham.

Our view

Pochettino may be out of work at present, but it seems unlikely he’ll be in the same position come the start of next season.

After all, he is “one of the best managers, if not the best manager in the world”. This is in Andros Townsend’s words.

Links between Pochettino and Tottenham will likely carry on right until either he joins another club or Spurs land another manager.

He worked wonders at Tottenham and many fans and even some players (according to reports) want him back.

That said, Chelsea know all too well what Pochettino brings to the table. And let’s face it, he wouldn’t be a bad shout for them either.
