Speaking on his YouTube channel, Goal journalist Charles Watts has shared a bit of insight into how people close to Andre Onana feel about Arsenal amid transfer links.
Onana has been linked with Arsenal for a long time now, but despite the fact he’s available for a fee of just £7m, Arsenal are yet to make their move for the Ajax goalkeeper.
It had been reported at one point that Onana was set to join the Gunners, but everything has seemingly gone quiet on that front, much to the surprise of people close to the glovesman.
What’s been said?
Watts gave an update on Onana and Arsenal, claiming that people close to the Onana camp are very surprised that the London club haven’t followed up their interest.
“Aaron Ramsdale is a goalkeeper they’re interested in. I’ve spoken about Andre Onana, nothing has happened with Andre and Arsenal in quite a long time now,” Watts said.
“People I know close to the Onana camp are very surprised Arsenal haven’t followed up their interest in Onana following the verdict of the doping case. The feeling is that perhaps Arsenal were hoping that ban he’d gotten was going to be reduced even further, but they are surprised that Arsenal haven’t followed up that interest, because they were convinced Arsenal were going to make a major play for Andre Onana after the talks that were held.”

Mistake
Arsenal could be passing up a huge opportunity if they don’t sign Onana this summer.
The Cameroon international has proven that he’s a capable goalie at the very top level, and he’s reportedly available for a very modest £7m.
Why are Arsenal looking at players like Aaron Ramsdale, who has been relegated from the Premier League twice, when Onana is right there staring them in the face?
This one just doesn’t make sense to us.
