Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing Newcastle United and their interest in Jack Harrison.
The Magpies have been linked with the Leeds United winger for a number of weeks now, and according to Jones, the Tyneside club are big fans of Harrison.
However, due to the fact Leeds have already sold Raphinha, Jones is led to believe that a move for Harrison isn’t on the table this summer, and now, Newcastle are prioritising a move for Moussa Diaby as their new left winger.
What’s been said?
Jones spoke about Harrison and Newcastle.
“They like Jack Harrison at Leeds, but Raphinha, that situation has meant that this one probably isn’t going to open up. Diaby really is the priority and that won’t be an easy deal to do at all by the way, it will probably cost them £50m if they’re going to get him out of Leverkusen,” Jones said.

Better option
With all due respect to Jack Harrison, there’s reason to believe that Diaby would be the better option than the Englishman this summer.
Indeed, after putting up 13 goals and 12 assists in the Bundesliga last season, Diaby is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous attackers in Europe, and while Harrison has proven his Premier League pedigree, it’s hard to argue that Diaby doesn’t have a higher ceiling.
Newcastle may have to forget about signing Harrison this summer, but if they can land Diaby then they may not live to regret missing out on the Leeds star.
