Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has claimed that Tottenham have highlighted Gian Piero Gasperini as a manager they’re interested in.
The journalist also states that Gasperini has responded positively after hearing of Tottenham’s interest.
The Italian has established himself as one of the most exciting managers in Europe, taking his Atalanta team to unprecedented heights in recent years.
Gasperini is reportedly on Spurs’ radar, and it seems as though he’s open to discussions about taking the job.
“We also understand here at the Transfer Window Podcast, that another manager who is of great interest to Tottenham and indeed who they have enquired about, ironically is also in Serie A, is Gian Piero Gasperini who has been in charge of Atalanta who have become something of a hero/surprise club in European football in the past few years,” McGarry said.
“Gasperini is not the young/dynamic coach which Tottenham have effectively described to agents as their preference. However, he is a very experienced manager and he’s certainly an interesting character who is dependent on a hyper-offensive possession-based style of play. He likes to pressure teams in the same way Jurgen Klopp does with Liverpool and also with Borussia Dortmund.
“Gasperini would be difficult to extract from Atalanta, but the lure of a Premier League job given that he’s coming towards the end of his career, he’s 63 and it is our information that a high-profile agent in Europe has informed Gasperini of Spurs’ interest and he has responded positively.”

This is certainly interesting to hear.
Yes, Gasperini isn’t young, but he is exciting.
As Mcgarry says he’s a hyper-offensive manager, and he could be the perfect antidote to the boring and defensive football we saw from Mourinho at Spurs.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
