Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has been discussing Jamie Vardy and a potential move to Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea have, of course, been strongly linked with a move for Leicester’s Wesley Fofana this summer, but according to Jones, there’s a chance that the Blues move for Vardy.

After letting Romelu Lukaku go, Chelsea are very keen to add a new number nine to their ranks, and while they seemingly aren’t keen on Cristiano Ronaldo, this reporter is led to believe that a swoop for Vardy could be on the cards.

What’s been said?

Jones shared what he’s heard about Vardy and Chelsea.

“So a bit of context here, last week I did another show and we chatted about a potential transfer and I bumped into someone the night before and by someone I don’t just mean a random person I mean someone who I know who has links in football,” Jones said.

The journalist went on to speak about how this story was received, but he dropped a few other interesting details about Vardy and Chelsea.

“He said ‘oh an interesting one that I heard was Vardy and Chelsea, that might be one for you to look out for’ and he told me more about it and why.”

“Jamie Vardy is quite an interesting proposition and one that Chelsea could yet make a move for in this window. He has one year left on his contract at Leicester.”

“Today I’ve had two other phone calls where people have brought up Jamie Vardy, so maybe there’s something in this.”

Last hurrah

Of course, the romantic side of us would love to see Jamie Vardy retire at Leicester City and bow out as the legend he is.

However, there’s one thing Vardy’s fairytale career is lacking – a Champions League win, and a move to Chelsea could help him secure a European triumph in the final years of his career.

Vardy certainly still has a lot to offer, even at the age of 35, and if Chelsea do make this move, he may well be tempted to finally leave the Foxes after 10 years in the East Midlands.

One last hurrah chasing the Champions League with Chelsea could be very tempting for Vardy.
