Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Leeds United are still in the market for Wolves winger Adama Traore with a deal “definitely alive”. The journalist says Victor Orta “loves” the winger, who he worked with at Middlesbrough.
Traore, 26, returns to Wolves after spending the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona. The cash-strapped Spanish club have chosen not to activate the permanent clause in his loan deal, despite 17 games for Barca.
Reports say that Leeds, Newcastle and Tottenham are all in the mix to sign the Spain international. He has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Molineux, and TeamTalk say he will cost less than £20million.

Now, Jones delivers an update as Leeds pursue a reunion between Orta and Traore. He claims that a deal to take Traore to Elland Road is “definitely alive” largely because the Spanish director of football loves the La Masia product.
“They are obviously looking at other players too, but Adama Traore is on the list and the key thing to remember is that Victor Orta loves Adama Traore. He has wanted him in the door for ages, so that one is definitely still alive.”
Leeds ‘definitely alive’ for Wolves winger Traore
With Raphinha going, Leeds could do a lot worse than signing Traore. The Whites will certainly need a winger and what better than spending less than £20million on a proven Premier League star. Jurgen Klopp said he is “unplayable”.
The only issue is his end product. There are no question marks regarding his ability to get his side up the pitch, his strength, his pace. But his stats in the final third are poor – other than 18 goals and assists in 2019-20.
If Leeds can get that form out of Traore under Jesse Marsch, he is an absolute no-brainer. He just needs the confidence of a manager and to play in a side where he is one of the main men. At Leeds, he would be just that.
