It has been reported that Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies suffered a hamstring injury against Southampton, which could rule him out until the end of the season.

The Welshman has been an integral soldier for Antonio Conte to call upon this campaign, as he has been deployed both as part of a back three as well as in an advanced left wing-back role.

But now, an injury sustained by Ben Davies has emerged, which could be a major worry for Tottenham Hotspur as they aim to finish in the top four.

How long could Tottenham star Ben Davies be ruled out due to injury?

The £93,000-a-week [Salary Sport] defender’s versatility has made him a crucial member of the Spurs side, especially in big games as he can be relied upon to put in a dependable shift at the back.

However, a report by Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has stated that Tottenham ace Ben Davies could be out of action for four to six weeks, after the injury he sustained in his side’s 3-3 draw against Southampton.

This is a massive blow for the Lilywhites as it could dent their hopes of at least qualifying for the Champions League after another season where they have failed to win silverware.

Headache for the next manager

The report also claims that with Antonio Conte looking increasingly likely to leave the club, the experienced operator’s absence could be a ‘problem’ for the next manager.

After all, Ben Davies is Tottenham Hotspur’s only fit left-back, as Ryan Sessegnon is injured and Ivan Perisic is a wing-back, which makes his injury a concern for the new boss, if he chooses to field a back four.

Only time will tell whether Spurs decide alongside Conte to end their association as soon as this season or stick it out until the summer.
