Tottenham Hotspur duo Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn are seizing their chance to impress new boss Nuno Espirito Santo this summer.

That’s according to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold, who claims the pair have made a real impact during pre-season training.

Gold claims both players are in ‘brilliant’ shape this summer, and new boss Nuno is ‘really impressed’ with both players ahead of the new season.

“What I’m told is that Steven Bergwijn and Dele Alli have both come back to pre-season in brilliant shape, like really really top shape, and Nuno Espirito Santo has been really impressed with both,” said Gold.

Both players are coming off the back of very frustrating seasons and will be desperate to make a real impact under Nuno.

Alli started just one league game under Jose Mourinho last season and was persistently linked with moves away from the club.

Ryan Mason gave him a chance towards the end of the season, and Alli now has to hope that Nuno takes a shine to him after Mourinho cast him aside.

As for Bergwijn, he started the season in Mourinho’s side but started just five league games for Mourinho in 2021 as he gradually fell out of the plans.

Tottenham have reportedly fought hard to keep hold of Bergwijn this summer amid interest from Ajax, and he is seemingly trying to repay their faith.
