The race to sign Raphinha this summer is heating up.

For the longest time, it looked as though the Brazilian winger was Barcelona-bound, but with La Blaugrana suffering through some serious financial problems right now, a number of Premier League clubs have come into the picture.

Arsenal have had a bid rejected, Chelsea are keen, while the player would also reportedly be open to joining West Ham.

However, Tottenham may soon make their move to sign the Leeds ace as Fabrizio Romano claims that the London club have told Raphinha’s employers that they want to bid for him.

Romano is very rarely wrong about these things, so a bid from Spurs for Raphinha may well be imminent.

Of course, whether or not Tottenham can stump up the cash to force Leeds’ hand remains to be seen.

The Yorkshire club reportedly want north of £55m for their talisman, and while Spurs can certainly afford that after their £150m cash injection earlier this summer, but you have to wonder whether or not such a chunk of that money should go on Raphinha.

Tottenham have plenty of problem positions to plug – most notably in their defence, and with Dejan Kulusevski lighting up the Premier League on their right wing, it would seem strange for Spurs to spend so heftily on Raphinha.

Of course, this move would make sense if Tottenham have an absolutely huge budget and other deals for similar fees are coming further down the pipeline, but that remains to be seen.

Spurs look set to bid for Raphinha, and if they get him, they’ll be landing an ‘unbelievable’ player.
