Liverpool completed a deal to sell Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich a little earlier this summer.

The 30-year-old winger joined the Reds in 2016 and played an instrumental role in helping Jurgen Klopp’s side to a lot of success since then.

Liverpool won the Champions League – and reached two other finals – the Premier League, the FA Cup and a League Cup while the Senegal international was a mainstay in Klopp’s XI.

Not only was he popular within the squad, but the club overall and a tweet by a journalist in Germany has illustrated his affection for the Anfield outfit.

According to Christian Falk, who exclusively covers Bayern for Bild, Mane sent some chocolate, a personalised note and a ‘portrait’ of himself to everybody at Liverpool, no matter how big or small their role.

Here’s what Falk tweeted out:

Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich

Clearly Liverpool remains very close to Mane’s heart, also revealed by Falk earlier in July.

However, it was time for a change.

His role on the left-hand side of attack had been taken by Luis Diaz, who joined in January, and an £85 million deal to sign Darwin Nunez meant that Mane wasn’t going to play through the middle either.

So far, Mane is getting on great in Germany but there’s been a little stuttering from the Reds, who dropped two points at Fulham last week in their Premier League opener.

Missing the player on the field is inevitable to some degree this season.

Hopefully for Liverpool it doesn’t cost them.
