Eddie Howe is now interested in bringing Kieran Tierney to Newcastle – almost four years after missing out on him while at Bournemouth.
What’s the story?
Well – according to Tom Barclay of The Sun – Howe came very close to signing the Scotland international back in 2019.
However, Tierney was eventually signed by Arsenal after the Gunners struck a £25m agreement with Celtic.
Now, Howe could finally get his hands on the 25-year-old.
It was Chris Wheatley of National World who first revealed that Newcastle are keen to sign Tierney, after he fell out of favour under Mikel Arteta.
The Arsenal No.3 has lost his place in the starting XI to Oleksandr Zinchenko, and is far too good to be a backup option as he enters the prime years of his career.
So far this season, Tierney has only made four starts in the Premier League, with 12 appearances coming from the bench as the Gunners attempt to win the Premier League title.
Newcastle would be a force with Tierney
Dan Burn is a fan favourite at Newcastle, and has done an excellent job at left-back under Howe.
Having said that, the Magpies would go up a gear if they had Tierney charging up the left flank on the opposite side to Kieran Trippier – in truth, he has been unlucky to lose his spot at Arsenal.

A full-back pairing of Tierney and Trippier wouldn’t look out of place in the Champions League, with both defenders possessing incredible technical ability and also the stamina to make an impact throughout the entire 90 minutes.
The Arsenal outcast also boasts plenty of winning experience, having lifted five Scottish Premiership titles for Celtic, three Scottish Cups, the FA Cup and many other pieces of silverware.
If Arsenal do decide to sell Tierney this summer, Newcastle must win the race for his signature.
