Newcastle United are interested in Kieran Tierney as they consider a move to lure the left back away from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side this summer.
That’s according to reporter Chris Wheatley, who claims that Newcastle are monitoring Tierney’s situation at Arsenal closely.
The Magpies are seemingly weighing up their options at left back and Tierney is one option.
Dan Burn has played as Newcastle’s left back this season whilst Matt Targett will be in contention moving forward.
It’s reasonable to suggest that Newcastle may want a more long-term option though and Tierney would fit the bill.
One interesting note here is that Eddie Howe allegedly made Tierney his top target for the 2018 summer transfer window at Bournemouth.
Howe has seemingly admired Tierney for a while and may hope to finally work with him as Newcastle weigh up a summer transfer

Newcastle United move should appeal to Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney
It doesn’t feel all that long ago that Tierney – branded a ‘warrior’ by Ashley Cole – was a vital player for Arsenal.
The £25million signing from Celtic back in 2019 was seen as a pillar for Arsenal to build around in the coming years.
However, injury problems resulted in Arsenal signing Oleksandr Zinchenko and Tierney has been bumped down the pecking order since then.
Tierney has started just four Premier League games this season, coming off the bench in another 12.
There were even games during Zinchenko’s absence where Mikel Arteta went with Takehiro Tomiyasu at left back over Tierney.
That can’t exactly fill Tierney with confidence about his role at Arsenal moving forward.
A move to Newcastle would surely give Tierney regular first-team action whilst playing under a manager who has rated him highly for a while.
Whether Arsenal would want to actively help Newcastle remains to be seen but the Magpies will have cash to spend and may offer the best route out of North London for Tierney.
