According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich are now confident about signing Liverpool target Konrad Laimer.
Bayern Munich set to beat Liverpool
Well, the reliable Italian journalist believes the German giants are optimistic about their chances of beating Jürgen Klopp to the Austria international.
It is said that Laimer wanted to join Bayern Munich in the summer, although RB Leipzig could not strike a deal with the Bavarians despite the £25m-rated midfielder agreeing personal terms with Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
It comes after the 25-year-old admitted he supports Liverpool, which filled the Anfield faithful with hope that a deal could be completed in 2023.
However, Nagelsmann – who Romano claimed has pursued Laimer since the summer of 2021 – now seems to be in pole position to bring the RB Leipzig No.27 to the Allianz Arena.
It was 90min who first revealed that Liverpool are interested in the Austrian.
Interest in Laimer comes after he scored five goals and provided six assists in 43 appearances for RB Leipzig last season, helping the German side reached the Europa League semi-final.
So far this term, he has failed to register a goal involvement in six outings as he struggles with injuries.
Liverpool face tough battle with Bayern Munich
By the sounds of it, Bayern Munich have made far more progress than Liverpool in the race to sign Laimer.
However, the battle isn’t over yet, and the Reds have as much pulling power as anybody in Europe at the moment with Klopp at the helm.
Add that to the fact Laimer supports Liverpool, and Klopp surely has a chance of winning this transfer fight.
Interestingly, the Salzburg-born maestro becomes a free agent in July, which means Liverpool could strike a pre-contract agreement in January if they move swiftly.
