Josh Hokit’s strong start in the UFC has earned him a fight against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327.

Hokit first caught attention when he secured a contract with the promotion following a second-round knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series last August.

He then made an immediate impact in his official debut, needing less than a minute to stop Max Gimenis in November.

The momentum continued into January, when Hokit picked up another first-round finish at UFC 324. Now, the 28-year-old is set for a significant test against one of the division’s more experienced names.

Joshua Van is set to defend his flyweight title against Tatsuro Taira in the main event of UFC 327, and the undercard is starting to take shape with several other fights also being confirmed.

Hokit has put together back-to-back impressive wins, earning himself a match-up with Blaydes, a former title challenger.

‘Razor’ returned from his defeat to Tom Aspinall at UFC 304 with a split decision win over Rizvan Kuniev last June. It was not his most convincing performance, but it was enough to get him back on track.

With the UFC seemingly taking a new approach to matchmaking based on stylistic match-ups, Hokit finds himself able to jump much higher up the rankings than usual for someone still outside the top fifteen.

While ‘The Incredible Hok’ remains unranked in the heavyweight division, Blaydes currently holds the number four spot.

“I know what you want from me so God, I’m sending company,” he posted on Instagram about the fight.

Right now, the heavyweight division is not looking too strong. It is a bit of a change from how it has usually been seen, but that is where things stand.

Given the current state of the division, a win for Hokit over Blaydes could put him straight into the title picture.
