Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho told Football.London after last night’s defeat to Manchester City that his side are missing Giovani Lo Celso.
Lo Celso was not in the Tottenham squad for their Premier League game against City away from home at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.
The 24-year-old has not played for Spurs since December 20 due to injury, an it is not exactly clear when the Argentina international will be back in action, according to Football.London.
Spurs lost 3-0 to Pep Guardiola’s side, and after the game, Mourinho was raving about Lo Celso and outlined what he brings to the team.
The Portuguese told Football.London: “Another situation is to have players back and by having players back you are able to do a little bit more of rotation when you have for example Reguilon back you have Reguilon and Ben Davies, you have Gio Lo Celso back.
“Gio Lo Celso gives you situations in relations to Tanguy, in relation to Hojbjerg and also solutions and some of the other guys I hope they can also come to a better level, a better level that allows them to play and when they are ready to play, when they are ready to start matches then you have more players to rotate. Of course is important to have that availability in the squad.”
Mourinho added: “We miss Gio for a long, long time. We miss Reguilon for a few weeks. If we can have them back, if we can have Dele and Gareth fit and ready to play, it’s a big improvement in our squad.”

Important player for Tottenham Hotspur
It is clear from Mourinho’s aforementioned comments just how important Lo Celso is for the way Tottenham play under the Portuguese.
According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old has made four starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
The Argentine has also made four starts and one substitute appearance in the Europa League for the North London club this campaign, scoring two goals in he process, according to WhoScored.
Mourinho mentioning Lo Celso last night and how Tottenham are missing him shows that the Argentine will have a big role to play for the team once he recovers from injury.
