Liverpool are reportedly in the mix to sign Brighton star Moises Caicedo but Chelsea look as though they are front runners – and Jose Enrique has told Luis Garcia on Instagram that he wishes the Reds were signing him, not Chelsea.
Caicedo, 21, joined Brighton in January 2021 and six months later, the Ecuador star went on loan to Germinal Beerschot in Austria. But after returning in January 2022, he has since been a regular for Brighton – clocking up 30 appearances.
His form has been superb. Still very inexperienced, the midfielder has been a regular this season for Brighton under Roberto De Zerbi. The Athletic recently claimed Liverpool are interested, but will not be able to afford him in January.
Now, CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs says Chelsea are keen on a deal – with Brighton requesting a fee of £75million. With Liverpool waiting until the summer, it hands trigger-happy Todd Boehly a free run at the Seagulls maestro.
Enrique reacted on Instagram to the news that Chelsea could spend north of £70million this month on Caicedo. Luis Garcia responded by saying he is a “top player” – to which Enrique replied, telling Garcia he wished he was signing.

Liverpool do need midfielders. James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out of contract at the end of the season. Jordan Henderson and Thiago are in their thirties, and Fabinho has been really poor this season.
Liverpool need two or three midfielders. Caicedo is more in the mould of Fabinho. So, if the Reds can get the Ecuador man in – as well as a player like Jude Bellingham. But if Chelsea are keen and have a free run this month, it is likely.
