Super-agent Jorge Mendes wants Adama Traore to reject any free transfer from Wolves to Leeds United or Tottenham Hotspur. He is pushing the winger to go to Italy in the summer.

That is according to Calciomercato, which reports that Mendes is trying to secure Traore a transfer to Serie A. The renowned representative is free to hold talks with overseas teams with the 27-year-old out of contract on June 30. He also has talks scheduled with AC Milan.

San Siro technical director Paolo Maldini and sporting director Frederic Massara are to talk to Mendes soon to discuss Rafael Leao’s new contract. But the Rossoneri also want to take advantage of the agent’s clientele and are keen to listen to any opportunities he may offer.

Mendes wants to find Traore a transfer to Serie A once his contract at Wolves ends

Mendes is likely to suggest Traore to AC Milan but the Wolves star is also a transfer target for Napoli. The runaway Serie A leaders admire what the Spaniard could offer in Italy next season. He will present an attractive option without the need to send any fee to Molineux.

Atletico Madrid are in the race to sign Traore in a free transfer after his contract at Wolves expires in June, though. 90min reports Los Colchoneros have held talks with the forward to discuss a return to Spain. A move to La Liga is also more likely than him staying in England.

Traore signing a new contract at Wolves is also not entirely out of the question. The Daily Mail has reported that the eight-cap dynamo is weighing up an offer to extend his spell at Molineux. But the £55k-a-week star’s new terms will be worth far less than £100k-a-week.

Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur could move to sign Traore as a free agent

Leeds and Tottenham could yet move to sign Traore in a free transfer once his contract at Wolves ends, too. Whites director of football Victor Orta positioned the Elland Road outfit to sign the winger during January, per TEAMtalk. It also noted he wants to stay in England.

But 90min, which also listed Leeds with an interest, reported Tottenham also had eyes on Traore’s mid-season transfer from Wolves. Yet 90min later noted that the attacker was not keen on a move to north London owing to Antonio Conte’s plans to play him at right-back.

Traore was and will in the summer prioritise transfers to teams who will play the winger in his natural forward role. Conte’s questionable future at Spurs could, therefore, re-open his path to the English capital. But Mendes wants the winger Owen Hargreaves praises in Italy.

“End product isn’t, probably, his greatest attribute,” Hargreaves said on Premier League Productions (4/3, 20:45). “Traore is such a unique player, he’s so explosive and powerful.”
