Jordan Spieth delivered an encouraging performance at the Genesis Invitational this week.
Spieth finished in a tie for 11th at Riviera after receiving a sponsor’s invitation to the event.
The Dallas native had already played at Pebble Beach last week on a similar invite and will also appear in next month’s Arnold Palmer Invitational under the same circumstances.
Recently, Spieth has started to find his form again on Tour. Improved putting has led to back-to-back top-30 finishes, including a tie for 12th at Riviera.
Playing in these events is crucial for maintaining world ranking points and FedEx Cup status, given the money and opportunities involved.
Spieth will now be looking to build on this momentum so that he will not need sponsor’s invites going forward.
Jordan Spieth determined to avoid future PGA Tour sponsor’s exemptions

After finishing up his final round at Riviera, the three-time major winner sounded confident about where his game is heading.
Spieth knows that relying on sponsor’s invites is not a long-term solution. Eventually, he will need to play his way into these events on merit.
He made it clear after his round that he understands what needs to happen from here.
“I like the stretch that’s coming up,“ the 32-year-old stated.
“I’m glad to be going back to Bay Hill and fortunate they gave me a spot.
“I don’t ever want to use an exemption again and I was hoping to not have to use that one, but I have a good history there and I feel like I got some momentum.
“And a good weather week in Dallas, which is nice.”
Pressure mounting on Jordan Spieth to add another win
Spieth sounded confident after Riviera, speaking with real conviction about where his game is heading.
The focus now shifts to whether he can build on that momentum and put himself in position to contend again.
Even though he has not been at his peak lately, a player with 13 PGA Tour wins still carries the threat to break through when things click.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational could be a fitting stage for him to make that happen, especially given the way things have been trending.
The PGA Tour needs Spieth to return to his top form, and the current signs suggest this is highly likely.
