Leeds United and Sunderland are among the sides linked with moves for the Shrewsbury Town midfielder.
Reported Leeds United and Sunderland target Jon Nolan is flattered by the interest being shown in him.
The Shrewsbury Town midfielder, who is also said to have caught the eye of Old Farm rivals Norwich City and Ipswich Town, has scored nine goals and created six to fire the Shrews into promotion contention.
And while Paul Hurst’s side may have lost their grip on the League One automatic positions, Nolan is determined to play at a higher level – preferably with his present employers.
“It is flattering – it’s good to get that recognition,” Nolan told the Shropshire Star of the attention from Leeds, Sunderland and company. “But it’s all rumours. You can’t do nothing about them or control them.
“We all, as players, even Doigy (Chris Doig, the Shrewsbury assistant manager) and the gaffer (Hurst), want to go to the highest level possible.
“Hopefully that can be with Shrewsbury this season.”
Speaking to the Shropshire Star last month Hurst said that while he was aware of other clubs taking note of Nolan, Shrewsbury have received no formal approach for the 25-year-old.
“I know people have been to watch his games,” he said. “I’m sure there are a few (players) making clubs think about next season.
“A couple of clubs I’ve seen (linked) have certainly got lots of financial clout behind them and they’d need it – that’s all I would say.
“It’d be a win-win situation. But as we’ve said before, we don’t need to sell. There is certainly nothing that’s been put on the table that I’m aware of.”
Should Shrewsbury gain promotion this season, it is likely they will pass Sunderland on their way up, with the Mackems seemingly destined for the third tier.
Leeds, Norwich and Ipswich, on the other hand, are all now certain to remain in the Championship next term.
