Sheffield Wednesday are looking to recruit in the Aston Villa player’s position.
Jon Newsome believes Sheffield Wednesday have missed a great opportunity not moving for Aston Villa’s newest recruit.
The Villans added former Chelsea and England captain John Terry to their ranks on Monday afternoon.
And Terry’s vast experience would have been ‘priceless’ at Hillsborough, according to former Owls defender Newsome.
New Aston Villa recruit John Terry
“Can’t help thinking we may have missed a great opportunity with JT going to Villa,” he posted on Twitter. “He’d bring players on, make a massive difference IMO….experience is priceless”.
It has been reported that Terry will earn £60,000 a week at Aston Villa – a salary which even free-spending Wednesday would likely struggle to compete with.
But, in response to an Owls supporter who suggested likewise on social media, Newsome added:
Wednesday are on the lookout for another player in Terry’s position, after seeing their centre-back pool reduced to three by Vincent Sasso’s departure to Belenenses.
The Owls have also been linked with moves for Derby County’s Richard Keogh and Middlesbrough’s Daniel Ayala.
Terry becomes Sreve Bruce’s first summer recruit at Villa, who finished nine places below fourth-placed Wednesday in last season’s Championship.
Should Sheffield Wednesday have rivalled Aston Villa for John Terry’s signature?
