Jürgen Klopp has been speaking to the media after Liverpool recorded a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League last night.
In his post-match press conference, the German hit back at reporters for what they’ve been saying about Manchester City.
What’s the story?
Well, Klopp isn’t happy with talk of Manchester City needing a striker.
Whenever things go against Pep Guardiola, the usual narrative tends to be that he’s lining up without a recognised centre-forward.
However, Klopp isn’t having any of it.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the 54-year-old said: “I don’t like these discussions at all, to be honest. Talking about City as if they would miss a striker, that’s a joke. The way they played against Crystal Palace they had like five or six clear-cut chances, nothing to do with not having a striker. You’re telling me De Bruyne hit the crossbar because there was no striker?”
We simply cannot disagree.
The Citizens have world class forwards such as Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus, with attacking midfielders such as Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne behind them.
Therefore, there are no excuses for not finding the back of the net.
Liverpool may be left behind by Manchester City

Whatever happens in the Premier League title race, Liverpool have a big summer ahead of them.
The future of Mohamed Salah is up in the air as contract negotiations continue to stall, with the Egypt international’s deal expiring in 2023.
As a result, there’s a slim chance he could be sold this summer, or else the Reds risk losing him for nothing.

For Manchester City, the situation is slightly different – Guardiola could gain a world class forward rather than lose one.
According to the Daily Mail, the Citizens are set to sign Erling Haaland, a man who has remarkably scored 80 goals in 81 games for Borussia Dortmund.
If Guardiola adds the Norwegian to his ranks, while Liverpool lose Salah, it could see the Reds left behind by the Citizens over the next few years.
